Last week we went on the first ever "Ballard Family Vacation".
There were 10 of us which included my husband's mom, dad, two brothers, nephew, my two kids, and of course Corey and I. We rented this awesome 5 story cabin with a private indoor swimming pool, 6 bedrooms, and 6 bathrooms. It was beautiful and the view from every room was breathtaking.
(Read more about the cabin here.)

While looking for places to go and things to do a few months ago, we came across the Hollywood Wax Museum. Apparently it has been there for a few years, but it's been awhile since we've went on vacation and it was new to us.

The others in our group decided they would rather go to something else so we split up and my husband and I took the three kids to see what it was all about. Pulling into the parking lot, you're greeted by a huge building with a really cool Mt. Rushmore scene (but with actors instead of presidents.)

Walking into the front door there is a menacing King Kong waiting for you to pose in his terrifying grasp. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of this which I now regret.

The place was practically empty (probably due to the fact that we went at dinner time), which was perfect and gave us ample opportunity to pose and take pictures with our favorite actors and actresses. There were some spot on figures that looked just like who they were supposed to, but there were a few that looked nothing like the real person. Johnny Knoxville for example looked more like the alien from the first Men In Black then himself, and I've heard more then a few people complain about the way Beyoncé was portrayed.

It wasn't that much fun for the kids (ages 1, 6, 10) because they didn't know who most of the wax figures were. They were more from the adult's generation and movies they aren't allowed to watch but because of that same reason, I had a blast! I knew every star in there and had so much fun interacting with them in silly poses.

Here are a few of our favorites:

Because we had the pick 3 pass (which included admission to Hannah's Maze of Mirrors and Castle of Chaos) we were considered "VIP" and allowed access up to the rooftop to look out over the city from the armpit of King Kong.

There wasn't anything up there but a couple of high powered binoculars to look out over the mountains. Definitely wasn't worth the trip up the stairs from the elevator to the top because our son is afraid of heights and was ready to leave before we even got all the way up there.

Unfortunately we didn't get to do the other two attractions included in the pick 3 because the maze of mirrors was closed due to maintenance and I was afraid my kids would be too scared of the Castle of Chaos.

Those two are definitely on my list of things to visit when my husband and I go on our anniversary trip later this year though.
Is the Hollywood Wax Museum worth the $18 admission price for adults?
You have to note that I do not like paying a lot of money for anything so I think an admission price of around $12/adult would be better, but that's just my opinion.

The Gift Shop had some pretty cool products in it. If I had more money, I would have indulged a bit...
